How To Avoid Problems When Changing Filter Cartridges

Our goal is to help customers minimize potential operational issues, which is why we have prepared this 8-step guide for proper cartridge filter replacement. Following these procedures correctly helps prevent future malfunctions and enhances overall facility cleanliness.

Your 8-step cartridge filter changing guide:

Isolate the filter housing by closing both the inlet and outlet valves. This prevents fluid from entering the housing while it is open. Be sure to close the outlet valve as well to avoid backflow due to system backpressure.

Open the vent valve to release built-up pressure, reducing risks during housing opening and preventing airlocks during drainage. The vent line should be routed to an upstream tank to limit operator contact with process fluids.

Drain the housing completely by opening the drain valve, and direct the drained fluid back into the system upstream of the filter. Follow a procedure designed to maintain high plant cleanliness.

Remove the lid or top plate to access the filter cartridges.

Take out the used cartridges and dispose of them properly.

Install new cartridges.

Inspect the vessel gasket for damage and ensure it is correctly positioned before replacing the lid.

When refilling the housing, ensure the drain is closed and the vent is open. Open the inlet valve while keeping the outlet closed. Allowing the housing to vent during refilling prevents air entrapment. Once the housing is full and no air escapes through the vent, close the vent and open the outlet valve. The housing is now ready to return to service.

By these straightforward steps, you can prevent spills and ensure a leak-free performance during filtration.
